The Gathering Point

Every Backyard Needs Somewhere to End the Evening

Here's something nearly three decades of Las Vegas backyards has taught us: people don't gather around square footage — they gather around fire. You can build the most beautiful patio in Anthem or Mountains Edge, and everyone will still end up standing in a circle wherever the warmth is. A custom fire pit simply gives that circle a home.

The desert makes the case even stronger. Las Vegas evenings turn cool fast — a 95° afternoon becomes a 65° night by ten o'clock, and from October through April, an open flame is the difference between going inside at sunset and staying out until midnight. A fire feature effectively doubles the hours your backyard gets used.

And done right, it's sculpture as much as function. A masonry fire pit with dancing fire glass is the focal point of the yard whether it's lit or not — which is why we design each one to match the home behind it, not a catalog page.

Why Homeowners Trust Sun West With Fire

A fire feature is equal parts craftsmanship and responsibility. Here's what stands behind ours.

Built From Masonry, Not Boxes

Block-and-mortar construction, reinforced and finished in real stone, stucco, or tile — a permanent feature of your landscape, not a store-bought ring set on pavers.

Licensed & Verifiable

Nevada Contractor License #0095511 — look us up before you call. Fire features demand a builder who takes safety and standards seriously, and ours are documented.

Designed for Conversation

Height, diameter, and seating distance are studied, not guessed — flame at the right level for warmth without blocking faces, seating close enough to feel it in January.

Desert-Proof Materials

Surfaces that take direct flame heat above and 115° sun all summer — the exact stone, cap, and fire media choices that still look right a decade in.

One Builder, Whole Backyard

Fire pits are often chapter one — ours are designed to pair with a future BBQ island or outdoor kitchen so the yard grows as one design, not a collection of projects.

Financing Available

Fire pits are one of the most affordable ways to transform a backyard — and monthly payments through Acorn Finance or HFS Financial make it easier still. See options →

Fire Feature Styles

Choose Your Fire

Round for conversation, linear for drama, table-height for drinks and dinner — the shape decides how the space gets used.

Round Fire Pit

The classic circle — everyone faces everyone, no head of the table. The strongest choice for family conversation.

Square & Rectangular

Crisp geometry that echoes modern architecture — at home beside clean-lined pools and contemporary patios.

Linear Fire Feature

A long ribbon of flame — the dramatic choice for pool edges, wall tops, and modern landscapes that want a signature.

Fire Table

Dining or coffee-table height with usable counter around the flame — drinks, plates, and warmth in one piece. Fire table or fire pit? →

Fire Pit with Built-In Seating

Curved masonry benches wrapped around the flame — the complete conversation zone, no patio furniture required.

Design Advice

Place the fire where people already drift — usually with a view back toward the house and pool, never where smoke-free flame views get wasted on a block wall. Placement is the first thing we solve at your consultation, and it costs nothing to get right.

Materials That Live With Flame

A fire feature faces heat from two directions — the flame above and the desert sun all day. Material choice isn't decoration here; it's engineering.

Stacked Stone & Ledger Panel

The signature look — natural texture that firelight was made to dance across. We build with lines that hold their color through years of heat cycles. Consider: product quality varies enormously; the budget panels are where fading and delamination start, so we specify brands we've watched perform.

Smooth Stucco

Modern and cost-effective, with color matched to your home. Our white stucco linear features are among the most striking pieces in the portfolio. Consider: pale finishes show soot shadows sooner near the flame line — a well-designed media bed and cap detail keeps them crisp.

Travertine & Stone Caps

The sitting surface. A wide cap turns the pit's edge into occasional seating and a drink ledge. Travertine stays remarkably comfortable in sun; darker granites look sharp but run warmer. Consider: cap width is a real design decision — wide enough to perch on, not so wide it pushes people back from the warmth.

Tile & Porcelain Accents

The personality layer — patterned tile surrounds and porcelain faces bring color and detail a plain block never will. Our patterned-tile fireplace lounge in Pahrump shows what a bold surround can do. Consider: tile selection must be rated for exterior heat exposure; we bring the shortlist so you choose among proven options.

Fire Glass & Media

The jewel box. Tempered fire glass in blues, ambers, and clears; lava rock for a natural look; ceramic logs for tradition. Media transforms the same flame into completely different moods. Consider: this is the easiest thing to refresh later — many clients change media like homeowners change throw pillows.

Maintenance Tip

Fire features here need almost no upkeep — an occasional rinse of the fire glass, a cover in monsoon season, and a cap reseal every few years if you chose natural stone. We hand you a care guide for your exact materials at the walkthrough.

An Honest Word

Why We Don't Build Cheap Fire Pits

A fire pit looks like the simplest thing we build. It's also the one where cut corners show up fastest — because it concentrates heat, weather, and constant use into a few square feet. Here's what the lower bid usually leaves out.

Heat-rated construction. The firebox interior takes direct flame every time you light it. Built with the wrong block or mortar, hairline cracks appear within a season and spread with every heat cycle. We build fireboxes with materials made for the job, so the five-hundredth fire looks like the first.

Proper drainage. A fire pit is a bowl in your landscape — and monsoon season will find it. Without designed drainage, water pools in the media bed and shortens the life of everything it touches. Ours drain by design, not by luck.

Honest proportions. Kits and budget builds run small and low because material is money. Then the flame sits below knee height, the warmth misses everyone, and the pit gets used twice a year. Correct height and diameter for real seating distance is a design calculation — one we've refined over hundreds of evenings' worth of feedback.

Finishes that belong to your home. A fire feature is permanent landscape architecture. The stone should answer your home's exterior, the cap should match your hardscape, and the whole piece should look inevitable — like the house was built around it. That's craft, and it's the part no kit ships in a box.

What Can Go Into Your Fire Feature

The flame is the beginning — the details around it decide how often you use it.

Fire Glass Media

Tempered glass in your choice of color — the modern sparkle that makes the flame photograph.

Built-In Seating

Curved masonry benches with cushion-ready caps, wrapped at exactly the right distance.

Drink Ledges & Caps

Wide stone caps that hold a glass — the difference between standing around fire and living around it.

Match-Free Ignition

Push-button start and reliable controls — the fire is one click from lit.

Accent Lighting

Low-voltage glow on the surround and seating so the zone invites people in before the flame is even on.

Pool Integration

Fire beside water — linear features and bowls designed into the pool scape, like our pavilion builds.

Paired BBQ Island

Fire pit and island designed as one composition — the cook zone and the gather zone in conversation.

Custom Surrounds

Patterned tile, board-formed looks, and stone combinations that make yours unlike anyone else's.

What Does a Custom Fire Pit Cost in Las Vegas?

Straight numbers: most Sun West fire features land between $4,000 and $20,000. A clean round or square masonry pit with fire glass typically runs $4,000–$8,000; fire tables and linear features with premium finishes sit in the $8,000–$15,000 range; and complete fire zones — built-in seating, lighting, custom surrounds — reach $20,000 and beyond.

What moves the number: size and shape (linear features and curves take more skilled labor than circles), finish tier (stucco to stacked stone to tile is a real spread), built-in seating (the biggest single add, and the most loved), and site conditions — a ready patio in Inspirada builds faster than a slope in the foothills above Summerlin.

Every proposal is itemized line by line, and the price only changes if you change the scope. Prefer monthly payments? Fire pits are the most accessible project we finance — check your rate with no impact on your credit.

Common Question

"Should I just buy a fire table from the patio store?" Fair question. A store-bought table works — until the desert sun ages its finish and the next model year makes yours look dated. Custom masonry costs more, is built into your landscape, matches your home, and adds appraisable value. One is furniture; the other is architecture.
