Las Vegas backyards keep getting bolder, and as we design and build outdoor kitchens across the valley, the same requests keep rising to the top. If you’re planning a project for 2026, here are the five trends we’re building most — and why they work so well in the Southern Nevada climate.
1. Full-slab quartzite with waterfall edges
Quartzite has become the counter of choice for high-end Las Vegas outdoor kitchens, and homeowners increasingly want it run as a full slab with waterfall edges down the sides — turning a cooking station into a piece of architecture. It handles the desert sun and triple-digit heat better than most surfaces, and every slab is one of a kind. If you’re weighing materials, our quartzite vs granite guide breaks down the trade-offs, and here’s why we love quartzite for Vegas builds.
2. Outdoor TV media walls
The single fastest-growing request we get: a TV media wall. Homeowners want game day and movie night out on the patio, and a purpose-built wall — recessed or surface-mounted, often with a linear fireplace below the screen — anchors the whole space. Finished in stone, stucco, porcelain, or Thermory wood, it doubles as the backyard’s focal point.
3. Warm, mixed materials
The all-stainless, all-stucco look is giving way to warmer, layered designs — Thermory real-wood paneling mixed with stacked stone and porcelain, so the kitchen feels like an extension of the home rather than an appliance bay. Mixing two or three finishes is now the norm on our custom BBQ islands and outdoor kitchens.
4. The whole “outdoor room,” designed as one
Instead of a standalone grill island, homeowners are planning the entire space together — kitchen, seating, shade, and a fire feature — as a single outdoor living room. A linear outdoor fireplace or a modern fire pit or fire table is what keeps that room in use through the cooler desert months.
5. Specialty cooking stations
One grill isn’t enough anymore. We’re building more griddles for smash burgers and breakfast, pizza ovens, side burners, and Kamado-style smokers right into the island so the kitchen matches how people actually cook and entertain. It’s the difference between a grill and a true outdoor kitchen.
