Out in The Paseos — the Summerlin village tucked up against the 215 Beltway at Charleston (89138) — we built this L-shaped outdoor kitchen for a family who cooks outside more than in. No gas grill at all on this one: the homeowners went with a Memphis pellet grill and a 40-inch Le Griddle, a combination we’re seeing more of every year and one of our favorites to build around.
Why a Pellet Grill + Griddle Combo Works
The Memphis pellet grill handles low-and-slow smoking and high-heat searing from the same hopper of hardwood pellets, and the 40″ Le Griddle covers everything a grill grate can’t — smash burgers, fajitas, breakfast for the whole family. Between the two, there’s nothing this kitchen can’t cook. We wrote a full breakdown of what makes Le Griddle cooking different if you’re curious about the flat-top life.
The Build
- L-shape layout — cooking on one leg, prep and serving on the other; the corner puts everything in reach
- Memphis pellet grill, built in
- Le Griddle 40″, built in flush with the counter
- RCS doors, drawers, and trash receptacle — full storage suite, stainless throughout
- Umbrella sleeve built into the island — shade exactly where you stand, no freestanding base to trip over
- Porcelain countertop with porcelain tile sides
- Omega AkroFlex stucco on the back side, matched to the home
Porcelain on both the counter and the sides gives this island a clean, modern look that matches Summerlin’s newer architecture — and it’s one of the most durable pairings we install for full-sun backyards. The AkroFlex stucco back ties the island into the house so it reads as part of the home, not an add-on.
What a Build Like This Costs
An L-shaped outdoor kitchen at this level runs $14,000–$25,000 depending on the equipment and finishes — the pellet grill/griddle combo and full RCS storage suite shown here land in the middle. Our cost guide breaks down where the money goes.

Building in The Paseos and Summerlin West
The Paseos sits in Summerlin West, where lots back up to the foothills and evening shade makes outdoor kitchens usable ten months a year. For this project, we provided the homeowners with complete design drawings for their HOA submittal — everything they needed to get approval, ready to hand in. See our Summerlin outdoor kitchens page for more builds across the villages, or browse outdoor kitchen ideas for Summerlin homes.
