Just east of Summerlin at Hualapai and Desert Inn (89117), this build is what happens when a homeowner says “we want a bar, not just an island.” The result: a quartzite outdoor kitchen with a suspended bridge bar that seats five, a farmhouse sink, LED under-counter lighting, and a mix of smooth Spanish-style stucco and real wood siding that you won’t see twice in the valley.

The Bridge Bar

The signature piece here is the suspended table bridge — a bar-height slab that appears to float off the main island, with room for five people to pull up a seat. No forest of legs underneath, no separate patio table needed. It turns the kitchen into the gathering spot: whoever’s cooking is at the center of the conversation, and the LED lighting under the counter keeps the bar glowing after sunset.

Built Around the Homeowner’s Own Grill

The homeowners already owned a 40″ grill they loved — so we designed and built the island around it. That’s more common than you’d think: if you’ve already invested in a grill, we’ll spec the cutout, clearances, and layout to fit it, and put the budget into counters and finishes instead. The rest of the appliance suite is new: a Lion drop-in cooler (ice and drinks built right into the counter), an RCS refrigerator, and RCS doors, drawers, and trash receptacle throughout.

  • Smooth Spanish-style stucco on the island body, matched to the home’s architecture
  • Thermory real wood siding — thermally modified wood that stays stable in desert heat, adding warmth you can’t get from tile alone
  • Farmhouse sink — full outdoor prep and cleanup, no trips inside
  • LED under-counter lighting for evening entertaining

From Cement Board to Showpiece

Like every Sun West build, this one started as a framed structure sheathed in cement board — here’s the island mid-construction, before the stucco and stone went on. What you don’t see in the finished photos is what makes it last: the structure underneath is built for decades of Las Vegas summers.
